RORC Cowes–Dinard–St Malo Race 2027

RORC Cowes–Dinard–St Malo Race 2027

Campaign dates: To be confirmed
Price: €800 per person

Join Swan 51 “Eira” for one of the great classics of European offshore racing: the RORC Cowes–Dinard–St Malo Race.

Starting from the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, the approximately 150-nautical-mile course takes the fleet west through the Solent and across the English Channel. After negotiating the tides, shipping lanes and tactical challenges around the Channel Islands, the race finishes between Dinard and the historic walled city of St Malo.

First raced in 1906, Cowes–St Malo is one of the oldest events in the Royal Ocean Racing Club calendar. It attracts a large and varied international fleet and offers an excellent introduction to serious offshore racing without requiring a long time commitment.

No previous racing experience is necessary, although some sailing experience is helpful. Everyone aboard forms part of the crew and takes an active role in sailing the boat. Before the start, we will provide an introduction to Swan 51 “Eira”, the safety equipment, watch system and individual crew responsibilities.

Programme

The campaign begins in Cowes two days before the race start.

Day 1 – Arrival and crew introduction

Join the boat in Cowes, settle aboard and meet the skipper and fellow crew members. We will introduce the boat, personal safety equipment and campaign programme.

Day 2 – Training and race preparation

Practical sailing and manoeuvre training, followed by final race preparation, provisioning, weather briefing and discussion of the course and race strategy.

Day 3 – Race start

Final preparations before heading to the start off Cowes. Once racing, the crew will work in watches and participate fully in sailing the boat across the Channel.

Day 4 – Arrival in St Malo

The finishing time will depend on the weather and race conditions. After crossing the finish line, we will secure the boat, enjoy a well-earned rest and join the post-race atmosphere in St Malo.

Prize-giving and departure

The campaign continues through the official prize-giving and ends the following day.
