Finnish Archipelago Summer Cruise

Turku – Helsinki|1st to 8th of August 2027

Bavaria 50 “Branwyn” | €2,250 pp | €2,900 for your own cabin

Whole boat enquiries welcome.

Finish the summer with a week exploring the spectacular southern Finnish Archipelago, sailing from Turku eastwards towards Helsinki.

This is the route for those who want to experience the sheer variety of the Finnish coast: from the open waters around Hanko to the protected channels of Barösund and the countless islands between them.

There is no better way to explore this landscape than by boat.

The Archipelago is not a collection of postcard destinations. It is an entire world of its own. Islands lead to channels, channels lead to bays, and behind every corner there seems to be another place where you could happily spend the night.

With Branwyn’s shallow draft, we can make use of this maze to its full potential. We can anchor in secluded bays, visit small harbours and villages, swim from the boat and find our own little piece of Finland for the night.

The pace is deliberately easy.

Breakfast on board. A few hours sailing. Perhaps a swim and lunch somewhere beautiful. Coffee ashore. A walk through a village. Dinner in a harbour. Or no harbour at all.

The choice is yours.

Food is an important part of the experience. The Archipelago is at its best when you keep things simple: smoked fish, fresh perch, new potatoes, Baltic herring, crayfish, local bread, berries and seasonal vegetables are all part of the local summer table.

There are also some excellent places to eat along the way. Scola in Barösund is a natural stop, while Farmors Café on Högsåra offers authentic archipelago cooking in a beautifully relaxed setting. In Hanko, Origo is known for its seasonal cooking and extensive Archipelago Table featuring fish, meat and vegetables.

But don’t expect a restaurant tour.

One night we might book the best table in the harbour. The next we might buy a piece of smoked salmon from a local producer, grill it on board and eat it barefoot in the cockpit.

That is the beauty of the Finnish Archipelago.

There is very little you have to do.

As we approach Helsinki, the islands gradually become more familiar and the city begins to appear on the horizon. But by then, hopefully, the pace of island life has taken over.

Seven days of sailing, swimming, eating, exploring and simply taking it easy.

Why This Is Different

This is not a sailing holiday built around getting as many people as possible onto a boat. With a maximum of around six guests, the experience remains personal, relaxed and genuinely intimate.

You are not joining a large group or a scheduled sailing tour. Branwyn is your private yacht for the week, with a comfortable environment where everyone quickly settles into the easy rhythm of life on the Archipelago.

Our experienced skipper brings extensive local knowledge of the Finnish coastline and, importantly, the freedom to use it. The itinerary is deliberately flexible. Weather, conditions and the preferences of the crew all play a part in deciding where we go and where we spend the night.

Breakfast and lunch are included, leaving the evenings completely open. We may find a table at a good local restaurant, visit a small harbour or simply drop the anchor in a quiet bay and prepare something aboard.

Branwyn’s relatively shallow draft is a particular advantage in the Finnish Archipelago. It allows us to explore narrow channels, secluded anchorages and small islands that are inaccessible to many larger or deeper-draft yachts. Rather than following a predetermined route from marina to marina, we can seek out the places that make the Archipelago special.

Some days may involve several hours of relaxed sailing. Others might consist of a short passage followed by swimming, exploring ashore, lunch in the cockpit and a lazy afternoon at anchor. There is no pressure to keep moving simply because the itinerary says so.

The result is much closer to a private yacht holiday than a conventional sailing tour.

A small group, a comfortable yacht, an experienced skipper and thousands of islands to choose from.

No crowds. No rigid schedule. No need to be anywhere at a particular time. Just the freedom to enjoy the Finnish Archipelago at its own pace.
